About Railway Week
TO mark the 58th Railway Week, Western Railway (WR) will organise
an exhibition at Churchgate station from April 15-19. This exhibition
will showcase “the promising present and vibrant future” of WR along
with glimpses of its rich heritage and the bygone era.

The innovation marked the advent of first train on April 16, 1853
between Boribundar and Thane which ran on 34 Kilometre long route.

Citations and cash awards were given to railway employees for their outstanding performance during the last one year on this occasion. A cultural programme was also presented in the evening. Other activities as laser show, Exhibition on Wheels Train and Steam Heritage Runs are also held.

Railway Week Celebration 
To commemorate the running of first train in Indian
subcontinent, between Bori Bunder and Thane stations on April 16, 1853,
Railway week is being celebrated every year in the month of April
throughout Indian Railways.
To mark the
58{+t}{+h}Railway week, Thiruvananthapuram division will be organising
various programmes at Ernakulam on April 15 and 16. Entry to South
station from eastern side will be inaugurated on Monday at 10 a.m.
