Mumbai’s one of the oldest public Ganesh festivals, most happening spot and the biggest crowd puller during Ganesh Chaturthi the Lalbaugcha raja is also the attraction of the digital eye.
Lalbaugcha Raja, Mumbai’s most revered Ganesh idol, beckoned Amitabh Bachchan and singer Shankar Mahadevan to participate in the aarti on September 4. Both the die-hard Ganesh bhakts arrived with security and family in tow. The milling crowds (some of whom waited for 18 hours in queue to seek darshan) went berserk when they spotted Bachchan, dressed in a beige kurta, in their midst; Shankar sang the aarti in his mellifluous voice.
