Vat Savitri Puja is also called Vat Savitri poornima. It is observed by married Hindu women on the full moon day in the month of Jyesta for health and longevity of their husbands. On this day married women get up early in the morning and have holy bath. They decorate themselves with new clothes and jewelry. They wear vermillion and bangles as mark of married women. They take vow of fasting whole day. They tie red threads around the tree to mark auspicious event. They pray for the long life of their husbands. They read the story of Savitri in evening and bow down to husband to take their blessings.
