1. माटी कहे कुम्हार से, तु क्या रौंदे मोय ।
एक दिन ऐसा आएगा, मैं रौंदूगी तोय ॥

Translation: The Earthen mix admonishes the Potter, “How you are mixing me now; wait till the day come, I will mix you well in me at the end of your life!!”

2. संत मिलन को जाइये, तजी मोह माया अभिमान ।
ज्यों ज्यों पग आगे धरे, कोटि यज्ञ समान ॥

Translation: One must go to have darshan of a saint leaving aside all worldly pride and attachments. Each step taken by a devotee during the onward journey to meet a saint, bestows religious merits equivalent to crores of yajnas(sacrifices).

3. गुरु गोविंद दोनों खड़े, काके लागूं पाँय ।
बलिहारी गुरु आपनो, गोविंद दियो मिलाय ॥


Translation: Both Guru and Govind (God) are present before me, to whom shall I bow down first? Glory to the Guru since He showed me Govind.

4. कबीरा ते नर अँध है, गुरु को कहते और, हरि को कहते और ।
हरि रूठे गुरु ठौर है, गुरु रूठे नहीं ठौर ॥

Translation: Those people are blind who regard Guru and God to be different from each other. If God becomes annoyed (with a certain act of yours), Guru is the Protector. However, if Guru gets angry, then there is no protector.

5. साधु सेवा जा घर नहीं, सतगुरु पूजा नाँहीं ।
सो घर मरघट जानिये, भूत बसे तेहि माँहीं ॥

Translation: A home where there is no service rendered to a saint, nor is there the worship of the Guru – such a home is equivalent to a cremation ground, and ghosts dwell there.

6. सुख में सुमिरन ना किया, दु:ख में करते याद ।
कह कबीर ता दास की, कौन सुने फरियाद ॥

Translation: You forgot the Lord during happy times, and remember Him during times of distress. Who would listen to the prayer of such a devotee?

7. चिंता ऐसी डाकिनी, काट कलेजा खाये ।
वैद्य बिचारा क्या करे, कहाँ तक दवा खिलाये ॥

Translation: Worry is such a Thief, that it eats one’s heart out. What can the poor doctor do, how far will his medicine reach?

8. साँई इतना दीजिए, जा में कुटुंब समाय ।
मैं भी भूखा ना रहूँ, साधु न भुखा जाय॥

Translation: O God! Give me so much wealth, such that my family is fed; I don’t have any cravings, and the Sadhu (saint) does not go hungry from my doorstep.

9. वाणी ऐसी बोलिए, मन का आपा खोये ।
औरन को शीतल करे, आपहुँ शीतल होये ॥

Translation: Speak such words, doing away with your ego such that the listener gets joy & your body itself remains composed.

10. कबीर वा दिन याद कर, पग ऊपर तल शीश ।
मृत लोक में आये के, बिसार गया जगदीश ॥

Translation: Remember the time when you were in your mother’s womb with head down and legs upward. (You had promised the Lord that you would worship Him if freed from there.) However, on coming into the world, you have forgotten the Lord.
